Sonoluminescence mean sound to light. When bubbles in liquid are exposed to intense ultrasonic waves they grow and contract and implode. As they do so, there is a flash of light. The process changes sound energy into light energy. For more information see: http://www.scs.uiuc.edu/suslick/execsummsono.html#websiteindextable |
